This diverter isolates up to 80 gallons of the first flush of contaminant-laden water from your roof, preventing organic and inorganic fine particles from entering the harvested rainwater. The Advanced Release Valve ensures that the Delta's first flush diversion is optimized by allowing you to determine the frequency and duration of the first flush.
The transparent, rapid release exit funnel reduces build-up and blockages while allowing for easy visual inspection. Additionally, this diverter can be used to convert a "wet" system into a "dry" system, which is beneficial in situations where the buildings are large or the tank is placed away from the buildings, resulting in long runs of underground pipe leading to a riser at the tank. In cold climates, the diverter can also be used to divert the water below the freezing level of the ground, preventing it from freezing.
On a sloping site, the diverter ensures the water empties out, creating a "dry" system that saves water and improves water quality. The installation requires 2 new 1.5 volt AAA batteries and six sections of 4" Schedule 40 PVC pipe, which can be purchased online or at a local plumbing supply.
